Concrete repair in San Diego

Brick, block, tired mortar, and the joint where a wall meets a slab. We repoint, patch, and seal what is letting water in.

How does concrete work in San Diego?

Pacific Coast Contracting repairs concrete in San Diego County: brick, concrete block, mortar joints, and concrete cracks and joint sealing. We do not pour new foundations or design structural walls.

What is included

  • Tuckpointing and joint repair
  • Block wall repair
  • Brick repair on veneer, planters, and garden walls
  • Filling concrete cracks
  • Sealing the joint where a wall meets a slab
  • Rebuilding small failed sections when the work is repair

What changes the estimate

  • Linear feet of joint or crack
  • Brick and block versus a slab joint
  • How much failed material has to come out first
  • Access along the wall

Structural work stays with an engineer

New foundations and structural slabs are outside this service. If a crack looks like the building is moving, we say so and stop.

What the photo on this page is

It shows joint sealing at the base of a concrete block wall. That is the kind of concrete work this page covers.

Mortar color

New mortar is rarely the same shade as mortar that has been outside for decades. We get as close as the mix allows and tell you what to expect.

From this kind of job

Before and after

Before: wood forms and rebar laid out for a concrete pad beside a green metal building
After: finished poured concrete pad in the same yard beside the green metal building
BeforeAfter

Concrete pad

Same pad. Forms and rebar are first. The second frame is that pad after the concrete was poured and finished.

BeforeAfter

Porch slab

Same covered porch. The open patch is first. The dark slab is that opening after it was poured.

Broken concrete and rubble along the base of exposed wall studs
New smooth concrete stem wall under exposed studs, with orange buckets nearby
BeforeAfter

Stem wall

Same wall line. Broken concrete along the studs, then a new stem poured in that joint.

How it goes

  1. 01

Photo the crack or the joint

Include something for scale, like a coin or a full block. Tell us if water shows up when it rains.

  2. 02

We say what the repair is

Repoint, patch, seal, or stop and get an engineer. You hear that before we start.

  3. 03

    Cut out, fill, seal

Loose material comes out. The joint gets filled or sealed. We do not smear new mortar over dust and call it done.

Questions on concrete

Do you repair concrete cracks?

Yes. We fill cracks and seal joints, including the joint at the base of a block wall. We do not pour new foundations or structural slabs.

Can you rebuild a leaning block wall?

Small failed sections can be a repair. A wall that is leaning or separating from the house needs an engineer before anyone rebuilds it. We will tell you if that is what we see.

Do you tuckpoint brick?

Yes. Failed joints get cut out and repointed. We do not paint over open joints and call that a concrete repair.
